Pearl Jam are my favourite band. I have been following them since 1991, when I heard their single “Alive” for the first time from their forthcoming debut album “Ten”. Eddie Vedder’s voice and the sound of the band immediately got into my system and that feeling is still going strong today. Throughout the years, their music has been the background for the good, carefree times as well as the more challenging moments. I was able to attend several of their concerts, which left me with great emotions and heaps of energy.
This painting is the result of the excitement I felt at the news of their forthcoming show in my town, Trieste. I chose a photo of Eddie which would trigger my inspiration, drew a charcoal sketch and finally started painting. As the paintbrush smoothly moved on the canvass, my mind was playing back Pearl Jam’s songs, strokes of colour and tunes in unison. Once the portrait was complete, I felt extremely happy with my work. My great wish now is to give it to Eddie personally, and maybe one day my dream will come true!
